Slow, Sustainable Growth with Samantha Abrams of Emmy's Organics

How do you grow a profitable, sustainable food business that's good for its people, the planet, and profits? In this episode of the New Money Social Club podcast, host Eden chats with Samantha Abrams, who she describes as, “one of the most humble, badass entrepreneurs you'll ever meet.”

Samantha is the cofounder of Emmy's Organics, a delicious healthy cookie company that she started with her partner, Ian, back in 2009, in his mom's kitchen as a way of creating healthy treats that he could actually eat (as someone who lives with chronic illness). Over the years, they've grown from a local farmer's market stand in Ithaca NY, to a nationally distributed operation whose healthy treats can be found in Whole Foods, Sprouts, Walmart, Wegmans and more. In 2021, Emmy's was acquired by Grupo Bimbo, the largest bakery business in the world, through a conscious deal that allowed Ian, Samantha, and their team to still play a role in the company, while upholding their values.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Samantha's money story
  • Emmy's slow, conscious, homegrown growth model
  • Balancing profit with values
  • Million dollar marketing lessons
  • Failing forward and so much more!
